Mountain bikers can have a great time on this challenging MTB route in Netersel , in the Brabantse Kempen region. The mountain bike route runs on and around a former landfill site in a wooded area. Cyclists come from far and wide to tackle the steep climbs, descents, rock sections, drops, north shore sections and switchbacks. The route is over 4 kilometres long and can be extended by linking it to the beautiful MTB routes in Bladel and Eersel. That way, you can clock up quite a few kilometres straight away. The route was created by members of the cycling and touring club Het Snelle Wiel Bestronics, together with mountain bikers from the Netersel area. The challenging course is not suitable for everyone. “It’s a really technical balance course – there are very few like it in the Netherlands,” says Frank van Hoof, the driving force behind the route and an MTB coach at the touring and cycling club Het Snelle Wiel Bestronics. “The course is at entry-level World Cup standard. You certainly don’t need to be a pro, but you do need to be very advanced technically.”  He explains: “The route is just over four kilometres long. You need to be a really good cyclist if you want to average fifteen kilometres per hour on this circuit. If you can complete it in around a quarter of an hour, you’re among the fastest.” And those who can handle the route? “They think it’s absolutely brilliant.”
The
‘Dak van Netersel ’ mountain bike route is a black route: very difficult. Black routes are for the serious competitive rider, bike park enthusiast or mountain biker with experience of rocky terrain abroad. Crashes here always happen at high speed, the landing is more difficult and the surface – like in a rock garden – is often harder. Definitely not suitable for beginners. The route has been classified by the NTFU. This MTB route is maintained by volunteers from VisitBrabant Routebureau. Is there something wrong with the route’s signposting?
