Roman burial mound
To the east of Hoogeloon , in the Loons Bos, lies the Kabouterberg, a Roman burial mound. A Roman villa was also found here, although nothing of it is visible on the surface any more.
In the 1930s, Bronze Age burial mounds were discovered, including the Zwarte Berg on Groenstraat (also known as Smousenberg). One of the largest and highest burial mounds from the Urnfield culture to be found in Belgium and the Netherlands.
