The Large and Small Circles
The outskirts of Reusel were redeveloped in the 1930s. Legend has it that a civil servant drew inspiration for this from Paris, where he was impressed by the Champs-Élysées and the Place de la Concorde. The mayor agreed to the plan to create a replica of this corner of Paris in the outskirts of Reusel. And so it came to pass: Burgemeester Willekensdreef leads to two circles, a small one and a large one. During the Second World War, they served as excellent landmarks for pilots. The circles are still clearly recognisable in the landscape today.
