The historical past of Bladel [Hapert] shows that the arrival of the tram brought change to the established patterns of society. In 1997, the Bladel Cultural Fund organised a competition with a brief centred on the theme ‘in the wake of the tram’.
The design – a 3D design or an intervention in the landscape – was to serve as a reminder of the legendary tram link that opened 100 years ago in de Kempen .
The tram line connected Eindhoven with Turnhout (Belgium). The competition resulted in a five-year project.
