Every Thursday morning, a small group of around 10 people gets together to enjoy some creative time with brushes and paper. This group isn’t focused on any one particular technique. The most important thing is to be engaged in creating something beautiful on paper. This can be achieved using a variety of techniques. Your own ideas are important so that, together with the instructor, you can turn them into something beautiful. This course is open to everyone. Would you like to give painting a go? Can I do it? What do we do?

  • Sketching with various materials, such as pencil, chalk, pastels, watercolours and the like.
One or more of these sketches can serve as a starting point for further development into a painting, whether in colour or not.
  • Focus on colour theory; an insight into how colours are composed, the application of shadows or colour nuances.
  • Colouring in a black-and-white photograph you have taken yourself.
  • Adapting an image of an existing painting in your own way, both in concept and colour.
  • A focus on perspective.
